VISION /  BORROWED LITE

What is borrowed lite? It is a glazed opening in a room with no exterior glazing, allowing the room to "borrow" natural light from adjoining space. ADF offers a full range of steel frames components called "sticks" that provide litheness for opening systems. Stick frames are used to make even the most multifarious partitions, window wall designs and entrance fronts. Because stick assemblies are commonly welded, they offer seamless strength between horizontal and vertical members, and here at ADF, our selection of sizes and jamb depths allow for limitless design freedom.

Stick construction at ADF can be fabricated from 12, 14, 16 gauge cold rolled or A60 galvanealed steel. When used for door openings, these sticks are equipped for mortised and surface hardware.

A hollow metal borrowed lite is a frame with fixed glass which functions as a fixed window. Typically used for interior applications, borrowed lite frames allow light to pass from one room into another.

  • Used as Interior Window Frames
  • 16 Gauge Steel - Cold Rolled or Galvanized
  • Available Welded or Knocked Down

Installing a borrowed lite is a great way to maintain an airy and well-lit space by allowing light from one area to reflect into another. We stock a huge range of knock down borrowed lites, allowing you to fit the frame into an existing space, or install it as you build.

At Architectural Doors and Frames, we carry a variety of borrowed lite doors and frames including hollow metal borrowed lite frames, borrowed light interior windows, borrowed lite exterior windows, steel borrowed lite door frames and more. You can construct your borrowed lites with a variety of construction options including knocked-down, factory welded, 16,14,or 12 gauge cold rolled, galvannealed, G90 galvanized, and stainless steel.
